  • We have Wi-Fi in two waiting rooms- If you bring your laptop or another portable device with access to the Internet, while you are waiting for services at Jeffery Hale's emergency room or at our outpatient clinic, we provide free Wi-Fi wireless network access.  Please note, however, that you cannot use your cell phone or other portable device while in a consultation room or the observation area, or in the medical imaging department (radiology).  Thank you for your cooperation.

Community Christmas Hamper Campaign

A true community initiative, this annual drive helps put food on the table in over 200 households during the holiday season. How can you help? You can donate funds, donate food, sort food, fill hampers, deliver hampers, and much more... Here are the non-perishable items needed:

  • Canned goods: soups, tuna, salmon, tomatoes, tomato sauce & paste, fruits & vegetables
  • Dried pasta / macaroni
  • Cereal
  • Jello / puddings
  • Coffee / tea / juice (unrefrigerated)
  • Mixes: muffins, cookies, cakes, etc.
  • Mustard, mayonnaise, ketchup, etc.
  • Hygiene products (soap, shampoo, etc.)
  • NOTE: No homemade items or foods with expired best-before dates please

To make a financial donation, please make your cheque out to the Community Christmas Hamper Campaign and send c/o 1250 ch. Sainte-Foy, Quebec, QC, G1S 2M6. Receipts are issued for donations of $10 or more. For more details about how to donate money, food or your volunteer time, call hamper headquarters at 418 684-5333, ext. 1580.

Baby Chat Café - Schedule update

If your baby is less than one year of age, you are invited to get together at the Jeffery Hale pavilion from 1:30 to 3:30 PM on Tuesday afternoons. For more details about registration, and for the latest schedule, open our Baby Chat brochure updated October 19, 2011.

Sorry, but we do not have volunteers to care for your older children at the Baby Chat Café. If you cannot find alternative care for your older children, we suggest you try the Take-a-Break Drop In instead.

Flu Vaccine Clinic

Jeffery Hale Community Services will hold a two-day vaccination clinic for the regular seasonal flu for the following members of the English-speaking community:
• people 60 years and older
• people of all ages with certain chronic diseases
• those who come into regular contact with the above-mentioned people
• those who take care of children aged between 0 and 23 months
• pregnant women in good health in their second and third trimester

These clinics will be held on Tuesday, November 15, at the Valcartier Community Centre and on Friday, November 18, at Jeffery Hale Hospital's outpatient clinic . 

You must make an appointment by calling Community Services reception at 418 684-JEFF (5333), ext. 1580, between 8:30 AM and noon and 1:00 to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday.  The flu shot is free of charge, but you must have a valid Quebec health care card. Please note that our Day Centre clients will receive their vaccine on a day that they usually attend. 

If you cannot make it on these dates, there will be other flu vaccine clinics in the region, including special clinics for babies aged 6 to 23 months. You can call the Info-santé (health info) hotline by dialing 811 for more details.

Moms' Nite-out - Schedule Update

Being a mom is wonderful, but it can be a tough job. Sometimes, it may be easy to forget that you need to take time for yourself. Come to Jeffery Hale's Moms' Nite-out activity and meet other women like yourself who want to get in touch with friends or make new ones. Baby Food Puree Workshops - Fall, 2011

Feeding a baby does not cost as much when you can make your own baby food. Learn about the food value of baby food purees, what foods to introduce and when, and how to create balanced menus for your baby. Chitchat Club - Schedule Update

This special club is Jeffery Hale’s response to the growing demand by French-speakers to do volunteer work in English. Each month, you can help others while you practice your second language. English and French-speakers get together once a month to work to a variety of interesting tasks while conversing in small groups. The Chitchat Club is fun, informal and a great way to make new friends. Special Needs Activities (SNACS) - 2011-'12 Schedule

At Jeffery Hale Community Services, one of our goals is to help parents and caregivers cope with the concerns that may arise from having a special needs (physical and intellectual) child of any age.  We offer a number of services and activities and can help you access other services to which you are entitled. For more details, please go to our Special Needs brochure.

We also offer assisted inclusive activities for children and adults. For a schedule of activities and a registration form, please open the SNACS Activities document. Participants (or parents) MUST register for these activities by calling Julie Slattery by the Wednesday before. Events will be cancelled if there are less than five people registered.

Take-a-Break Drop In - 2011-'12 Schedule

Travellin' Toddler Time - 2011-'12 Schedule

Free and in English specially for pre-school age children, and their parents or grandparents. Sing songs, hear stories, enjoy a snack and make a craft. This activity travels between Saint Brigid's Home, Morrin Centre, the Valcartier Family Centre (Ste-Foy branch) and the Quebec City Reading Council at the Eastern Quebec Learning Centre.
